A reader recently asked if I believe in magic..........I do! Magic is all around us. It's the orange and pink sunset, the sun sparkling on the ocean, the friend by your side. So keep on the lookout and embrace the magic!
I had a fabulous visit with the Kinder through Third Grade students from Albion School! They are so smart and already terrific writers.
Here I am signing post cards and copies of Willow Wood for the students.
A big shout out to the teachers and students of Albion School - you're amazing!
I'll be heading off this weekend to Mendocino - the inspiration behind Willow Wood. Lots of fun things are planned....especially a visit with the students from Albion School! See you soon kids!!
On Earth Day we remember to appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment. How will you celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day? Will you plant a tree, clean trash from the beach, take your bike instead of getting a ride in the car? There are so many ways that you can honor Mother Earth!
Here's a picture of my magical Sunday at Rio Del Mar. Is that Barney Gull swooping over the waves? Where do you find magic?
A couple of weeks ago I was at the Gallery Bookshop in Mendocino for a book signing. I had so much fun visiting with readers of all ages!
Here I am with two very special book lovers, Gavin and Michelle.
May 2014 bring you many new adventures in the magical world we live in. Best wishes - and may all your dreams come true!
I'm heading north to Mendocino for my book signing at the Gallery Bookshop this Saturday the 14th from 2:00 - 4:00pm. Hope to see you there!
I'm very excited about my upcoming "Meet and Greet" in Mendocino - the setting for Willow Wood! I'll be at The Gallery Bookshop (one of my all-time favorite bookstores) on December 14th from 2-4 PM. The bookshop will be decked out for the holidays and I'd love to see you there!
What a fabulous drawing of Caitlin by one of my readers! She decided to do her September book report on it and received an A. She told her mother that it was her favorite book. In her book report she wrote "I was sad when it was over, but was very pleased with the end.".This is how she pictured Caitlin would look like, what do you think?
I know that it doesn't look like much, but this is The Fairy Tree. It lives on my dear Irish friends' farm and for generations children have been told, "Don't touch the Fairy Tree!" No one has.
This week the winners of the Southern California Book Festival were announced and I'm thrilled to say that Willow Wood received an honorable mention! Unfortunately I can't attend the award ceremony but I congratulate all the winners and wish them continued success.
It's great to be back home after a fabulous vacation in Ireland and Scotland! I thought I'd share a few pics. Here I am out for a walk in Dublin. Gorgeous flowers don't you think?
And of course I had to take a trap ride while in Ireland! Don't you just love these darling horses?
Amazing ruins of Melrose Abbey in Scotland.
Check out this view from Edinburgh Castle! What a climb though. I certainly got my exercise!
Another beautiful day in California! First a morning walk with my dachshund at our nearby rural park, visiting with dogs and their owners as the fog lifts from the valley. Next a couple of hours in the "vegetable garden on steroids". I'm overrun with tomatoes, squash, eggplant, cucumbers...you name it! I'm giving away and processing as much as I can before I leave on vacation to Ireland and Scotland. That's right - back to the land of my ancesters! I'm packing in as much summer fun as I can because when I return it will be autumn. I'll have lots to share with you so stay tuned for magical stories and photos!
I just reduced my carbon footprint! I bought a plug-in hybrid. Now when I commute I'm helping the environment and saving money on gas. You can't beat that!
